Under the Violet moniker, 22 year-old Sydney musician and sound designer Jessica Meier curates atmospheric pop music, set to send shivers down your spine.
Her previous singles 'Ivory' and '(wo)man' were both added to rotation on triple j unearthed and received praise from community radio across Australia, and now she's back with an eerie new single and accompanying video titled 'BOXES/HOUSES'.
The new single was recorded by Violet and producer Alex Middleton in a small shed in Lithgow, a location she revisits in the equally unsettling music video.
She collaborated with Sydney film-maker Jessica Vincenza and cinematographer Harleigh English on the video which follows Violet through the streets of Lithgow as she observes the often slow and numb realities of suburbia.
"BOXES/HOUSES is about living in circles, always between walls and constantly existing within the confines of societies metaphorical boxes. Through this song I explore the mundane, repetitive and often numb realities of the human condition."
